The Child Advocacy Center supports victims of child abuse

I am Sarah Naylor, a Rockwall Realtor who is dedicated to helping my clients find their dream homes, but it doesn’t end there. I’m also incredibly passionate about making a positive impact in our community.

Charity and community welfare have always been close to my heart, which is why I’m proud to support the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County (CACRC). This wonderful non-profit organization supports children victimized by abuse or who have witnessed violent crimes. Together, we can help create a safe and healing environment for these young survivors.

The Importance of a Children’s Advocacy Center

Before the establishment of children’s advocacy centers, the process of investigating and addressing child abuse cases was often traumatizing for victims. Children would have to go through repetitive interviews, causing additional distress and hindering successful outcomes. The lack of coordination between investigative agencies complicated matters further, leaving children and their families vulnerable.

However, thanks to the Children’s Advocacy Center model, we now have a comprehensive approach to investigating and addressing child abuse cases. When a case is referred to CACRC by local law enforcement or Child Protective Services (CPS), a team of professionals comes together to ensure a coordinated response. This multi-agency approach streamlines the process, minimizing the number of interviews children have to endure and maximizing evidence collection using unbiased and non-suggestive interview protocols.

Supporting the Healing Process

CACRC provides a safe, secure, confidential, and child-friendly environment where the healing process can begin. Trained professionals conduct forensic interviews, ensuring children feel comfortable and supported. Specially trained practitioners perform medical exams, addressing any physical needs that may have resulted from abuse. They also offer therapy and family assistance programs to help children and non-offending family members navigate their challenges.
